I strolled down th aisle, stopping by each horse to pet them. I had come in search of Sam, to talk about the surgery. I was finally at the office, I knocked quietly on the door then poked my head in to see if she was in there.

Sam looked up, stroking Duke's wirery head. She smiled softly and inclined her head.Come in, come in. How are you doing Rae? she asked softly and carefully.

I was glad Sam was there, I moved inside and closed the door behind me. I read her lips and a smile curved my lips.
I'm doing good. What about you?
I questioned, moving to a chair and sitting down.

Sam still smiled, her fingers scratching Duke behind the ears tenderly.I am doing fine. Duke has been depressed lately, she said carefully, giving Duke some more scratches and rubs.

I looked to Duke after reading her lips,

Sam smiled softly, looking at her old canine friend.He is getting older, isn't doing as much work, thinks he isn't getting any attention, Sam said to Rae.I might go on a hunting trip in South Dakota in a few months but I am still thinking about it. If I go, I will have to bring him and Iris. SHe shurgged softly, looking at Rae.So, what do ya need? she asked.

Sam nodded and leaned back, her eyes watching Rae.What do you think of it? she asked. She had been wondering for awhile, if she would do it or not.

I read Sam's lips and took a deep breath.
I think I want to go for it.
I voiced, vocals slightly quieter than normal. I glanced at Duk,e smiling slightly as I thought of Sunny.

A nod of her head, Sam sat forward, her hands folded under her chin.Have you thought about when you want to do the surgery? Sam asked gently. Duke rested his head on her leg, his eyes closed lovingly. The little stub of his tail began to fan the air.

I couldn't wait to have the surgery, I couldn't wait to hear again.

Sam leaned back and grinned, her eyes dancing.Thats great! Shall we make an appointment? she inquired. Bits of dust from the barnfloated in teh air, creating a almost fanticful look of the room.

I thought about it for a moment after reading Sam's lips. I nodded, my decision was definate.
Yeah.
I galnced at Duke, the small smile still curved my rosy lips. Hopefully this surgery would be sucessful.

Sam pulled out a calender andbegan to point out dates most were busy, talking to Rae about hwo to prepare. She had no idea how to get ready for it, how could you? But it was best to get an idea of what you may need andwhat information you might need...

I watched as Sam talked about avaliable dates, the soonest day that was clear was about a week away. I poited to that date and then spoke,
