Jowell stepped out from the run down car, it had been his uncles, and would not have been his first choice of vehicle, but he was content with its state at the present. He winced as he slammed the door shut and at the un-encouraging noise it made.He smiled and laughed inwardly. He looked around him, and went in search of some kind of life in the place. He had recently moved to the town, beacuse of his cousins constant complaints that she could no longer see as much of her family as she would have liked. He checked his watch, and continued to walk forwards unknowingly. He rounded a corner, and came to a large house, he sat down outside, and waited for someone to come. His dark denim jeans hung losely around his legs, and his black t-shirt clung to his figure. His scuffed converse were coated in a thick layer of dust. His first action was (of course) to find some kind of employment, his second to find a permanant place to live. Zoey's (his cousin) house was hardly a palace, especially as she shared it with two other girls. He rolled his eyes as he thought of the morning that had passed a few hours ago, and smniled again. He had been able to slip past them just after wolfing down some brekfast, if it were to be called that. He sighed and checked his watch again nervously. His ideal occupation would be one that was mostly involved with horses. Most of his old friends were definitely not interested in any kiind of animal, let alone horses. But in the dusty reames of old memories, he remembered his closest friend. He had not spoken to any of his teenage friends in years, most of them had probably forgotten him by now. His emerald eyes flashed to the door of the house, he ruffled his tousled hair and started to pull grasss from the ground.

Kai was coming back from the barn at that moment, he had just been out riding Songbird
over some of the endurance course, and had nearly taken a head first plunge into the
water jump. Luckily he had jumped off the filly before she decided to fall in. She was
now drying off in the pasture with Allo. As he walked back up to his house, he was
joined by a tortoiseshell cat. He gave her a scratch behind the ears, before walking on.
Then he spotted a car, he wasn’t sure if he’d seen it before. None the less, he shrugged
and walked up the gravel path to his house. That’s when he spotted him, it was Joe! A
broad grin spread across Kai's face and he jogged over to him, Miss Moggs in hot pursuit
to come and investigate the newcomer.''Long time no see!'' he said with a grin,
stopping in front of him, the tortoiseshell she-cat padding forwards to sniff at the
strangers shoes.

Joe spun around in surprise at the sudden greeting, when he had established who was calling to him, the shocked expression had dissapeard and he was now grinning from ear to ear. He said;

Kai! Hey, how are you?

He bent down to the cat that was now inspecting him curiously. He tickled her ears, and when she rolled onto the floor, he laughed at the animal. He straightened up to look at Kai. He was slightly damp, looked as though he had been recently riding, one of each of their favourite hobbies. He waited for Kai to say something, and occupied himself by looking down at the cat again. He smiled as he looked up again almost immediatly. His cousin said that she would be here by now. But then again, Zoey could never be on time, no matter how hard she tried.

''I’m doing alright-'' he said with, nodding towards the direction of the barn, and
then he looked down at the tortoise cat, who seemed to have taken a liking to Joe.
''Well, what brings you to this neck of the woods?'' he asked, Miss Moggs rubbing
herself against his legs, probably trying to get him to give her a treat. There was one cat
at the barn who definitely didn’t need any more of those, Timmy. And talk of the devil,
the fat grey cat came plodding towards him from the direction of the newly built
Employee House, he'd probably been sunning himself beside the pool, as always.

He smiled as the fat grey cat came plodding out from behind Kai. It was slightly overwieght, and that was putting it lighhtly. He laughed as it plonked itself beside Kai's feet, and mewed pitifully for food. His expression stayed the same as Kai gestured to the barns and recently built houses, but he was impressed. Maybe there was more of a chance of getting a job here if Kai was the owner.

Good. My cousin is constantly complaining about how she doesnt see her family any more.

He rolled his eyes as Zoey crossed his mind. But he smiled again almost immediatly. Then added;

So, I thought I would save everyone from her, and come here myself. The fact that there are no horses where I used to live probably doent have anything to do with it.

He laughed and looked at the cat now purring at his feet, he replaced his hands into his pockets and looked back at Kai. He added nervously;

Do you think it would be possible for me to get a job. Here?

He smiled at Kia desperatly. He wasn't enjoying staying with Zoey and her roommates. And he thought that maybe accomadation was included in a job package. If he got a job that was.

''Ohh, Zoey up to her old tricks again?'' he said in a light amused voice. Ah yes, he
remembered Joe's...beloved cousin. Then he turned his attention to Joewell's next
question.''Would I ever say no? Of course! As long as your up to working as...lets
see.. I already have two employees, Charlie Downer and Emilie Black. Don’t know if you
remember Charlie, but Emilie is getting some lessons off me at the moment, she decides
to try her hand at some show jumping recently. Well, both of them are happy with normal
stable work. So, what do you think about, the co-owner?'' he said, grinning and then
side stepped the fat tom as he rolled at Kai's feet, then stood meowing loudly with his
huge eyes looking longingly upwards.''You greedy animal! I just gave you bloody
food!'' he said loudly and the cat gave him a piercing glare and trotted off in the direction of
the stables, Miss Moggs deciding to follow him away.

This time, instead of his face remaining unmoving, Jowell's face melted into absaloute shock. He stammered at Kai;

Y-You want me to be the co-owner?! He paused You mean, you want me to be the co-owner, of your stables

He put his hands in his pockets and breathed out, laughing slightly as he did so. It was great. It was the best possible oppurtunity he could get. The job involved horses, and he could catch up with Kai.

''Yeah, what did you think I'd ask you to do? Roll in the muck heap, well.. that could
be arranged I think ..'' he said with mocked seriousness and then broke out laughing.
Once he was sobered up a bit, he glance back to Joe.''So. If you’re sure you want to
start working, want me to show you around?''

He grinned and laughed at Kai's sense of humor. He replied;

Ye, sure. Let's go!

He spoke enthusiasticly and smiled as he did so. He removed his hands from his pockets, and gestured for Kai to lead the way. He was still grasping the fact that Kai owned the stables. He waited for Kai to start the "tour".

''Okay then, here is my house as you can see-'' he said gesturing to the house, a
small wooden plaque fixed to the wall beside the door read 'Pine Brook House'. Kai
followed a side path of gravel down a small slope until he came to the house where any
people who worked here could stay, he spotted Cinder, another of the barn cats sunning
herself on one of the sun beds, stretched out luxuriously in the sun.''- here is where
you'll be staying, I'll show you the inside of the place later''. Kai walked on again, this
time back to the path to the house and then followed it in the other direction down to the
barns, approaching the indoor arena he pushed open the double doors, allowing Jowell to
see inside.''This is the indoor arena, you can come and exercise the horses in here and
do jumping and dressage or anything else-'' then he moved over to a path down to a
large outdoor arena and stopped but didn’t go down.''There is the outdoor arena, and
the fields behind it is the cross country course''. He allowed another minute to tick by
to allow Joe to take it all in before he walked back down, and this time into the first barn.
He pointed down to the end of the stable area to where there were some stairs going
upwards and pointed to the door at the top of them.''Up there is my office, if anything
happens and I'm not around there is a phone at the bottom of the stairs as well'' he
said, next he showed Joe the tack room, then walked out of the barn again, and showed
him where the horses could be hosed down after work. Then he crossed to the end of the
first barn and there was a gravel path that lead down to the pastures, at the gate of the
nearest one stood Allo and the new gelding that Emilie had bought recently, Snow.
Standing back, he spoke up again.''So, what do you think?

Joe had followed Kai around. It wasn't too hard to remember he thought. He knew he would enjoy taking the horses out on the cross country course the most. He had never been a big fan of dressage or showjumping really. He prefered to get completely coated in mud if he was going to ride. He smiled and nodded to Kai. Fantastic he said, still smiling. It wouldn't take much time for him to find his way around.

''Right then, I'll show you round where your going to be staying now..'' he said,
now that he knew Jowell had taken everything in. He walked off back toward the house, his
shoes crunching over the gravel as he walked. He turned down the side path again and
back to the guest house. Kai pulled a key out of his pocket and handed it to Joe.''Oh
yes, heres your key to get in'' he said, and then used his own key and opened the door.
The house smelled faintly of new paint, but mingled with that there was the smell of, toast?
He pondered for a moment and slipped off his riding boots, hoping Joe would take it upon
himself to do the same.''This way..'' he said, and walked along the hallway until he
cam to an open archway into the kitchen. He then saw Emilie, reading a horse magazine
and eatings some toast.''Ah, this is Emilie'' he said, to Joe. Emilie jumped and almost
threw her toast into the air in surprise as he spoke.''Oh my God! You scared me!'' she
said and gave a calming sigh, looking over at Jowell, a new employee? She smiled a greeting
and waved before going back to her magazine.

He lifted his head and looked around as he walked through the door. There was a faint smell of toast lingering in the house. As Kai led him to the kitchen, he saw a girl sitting down intent on reading a magazine. Clearly a based on horses. When a half-eaten slice of toast nearly went flying through the air, he smiled in humor. When Kai introduced Emilie, he looked over to her, smiled and nodded a greeting.So, are there many people working here so far? He aimed the question at Kai, although he didn't look at him pointedly. Instead he glanced at him before looking around again, surveying the kitchen.

''Not really, Just Emilie and Charlie at the moment'' he said, and then gestured to
the hallway again.''Shall we continue?'' he asked and walked out of the room,
leaving Emilie alone with her magazine, and toast. He opened a stained oak door to a
living room and stood back so Joe could look in. Then he closed the door again and
walked further along the hallway, and rounded the corner and past a straight hall with
windows on one side looking out towards the pool and he then stopped at a door, a small
gold '1' was fastened to the center of the door.''Here is where you'll stay-'' Kai said
and twisted the handle and opened the door into a well sized room. The walls were white
and blank and a simple double bed was pushed against the far wall with counters on
either side with lamps on their surface. As well there was a closet opposite the bed.
''Feel free to do whatever you want with your room, decorate it or get some new stuff.
Do what you like.. Emilie is just down the hall in room 6 and Charlie is in the room next
to you'' he finished and gave his neck a rub as he considered something, glancing out
of the window and seeing that the sun was starting to set.''Oh, and if you need to
speak to me about anything, you know my house is just up there'' he said pointing
through the window and back to where his house stood.

Joe stepped over the threshold and looked around the room slowly and carefully. When Kai gestured to the other rooms down the corridor, he nodded in understanding. He looked out of the window from a distanceand saw the main house, which through his understanding, was where Kai lived. The smell of burning toast had been left behind, and now recently dried paint filled the air. He Said;Looks great, I'll just go and grab my stuff.He didn't know why he had broungh his belongings with him, but something had told him he needed to find somewhere to live other than Zoey's flat. Now he had found it. He was the co-owner of his friend's stables, and had found a new place to live. All in on eday. He was pleased with himself at the moment. As he dashed out to the car, bringing a rucksack packed full to the brim with clothes and other items. He walked into the room and nodded to Kai. He smiled and dumped his bag next to the bed. He looked around, and took in the desk, lamps, wardrobe and all the other things the room had. It was fairly sized, much bigger than he was used to. He sank onto the bed and let out a soft sigh, leaned back and looked at the ceiling. Sat back up again, realizing that Kai was still at the door, he smiled at him and said;Thatnks for letting me have the job again. He smiled and lifted his bag from the floor, replaced it on the bed and began to unpack his things.(This basically involved throwing them onto the bed and leaving them there. For now). He sat down again and decided he would unpack later. He needed to collect his horse from the field near Zoey's house.Jack won't be to pleased about going in the trailer again. He msiled and walked out of the room, aknowleging Kai as he squeezed past him.
