Kirsten glanced at her list of horses to exercise. I guess I'll take Melting Air out first. He hasn't been ridden in a while. she thought to herself as she found the buckskin gelding's tack and carried it to him. She brushed him down and tacked him up and set out for the outdoor ring. Kirsten climbed up and started walking him around.

Sasha hummed to herself as she took out one of the new horses, Jakulinne, a buckskin mustang, and tacked him up. The stallion was a western pleasure horse now, but hopefully with some work would be able to ride english as well. She and the mustang walked up to the outdoor ring and let themselves in. The pair made their way to the center and Sasha mounted up, watching Kirsten for a moment before following Kirsten and Melting Air.

Kirsten hardly noticed her boss as she pushed her gelding into a trot. Kirsten had an easy time controlling the gelding and he responded to her slightest touch. She got him to a canter and let him blow off some steam.

Jak was easygoing so far, and Sasha was thankful. They basically followed Kirsten's actions to work Jak through his paces and see what he had. The stallion behaved mostly and gave her little trouble. From what she saw, once she had finished training him in english, he could be easily sold to just about anyone. She cantered up beside Kirsten and passed her a bit before slowing Jak to a trot.Have you gotten a chance to go down to the breeding barn yet? It's baby city down there.

Kirsten slowed Melting Air down so not to mow over her boss. Not yet. Maybe after I'm done with Melting Air. She replied posting in the bouncy gait. Lots of training soon then? Kirsten asked hopefully.

Sasha shook her head. Not quite. They're less than a month old right about now. No training them for several months. However, we are getting some new horses in , and since we're going to be partnering with Pine Brook Stables, we'll be getting additions to the mustang herd to work with. Sasha thought about the coming wild ponies that would be put in the huge mustang pasture and sighed. It would mean more horses, but Kai needed help. Besides, they'd be selling horses soon anyways.

Kirsten nodded her understanding. Could I watch you train some of the new horses? Kirsten asked shyly. She hopped off of Melting Air and lead him to the gate. I'll be right back with Roar! she shouted.

Sure, she said, giving Jak a pat and pulling out her phone. After giving Jen a quick call, she dismounted and untacked the mustang. Sasha put his saddle and blanket up on the fence line and waited unil Jen arrived. A bobbed into sight, carrying an English saddle, bridle, blanket, and a girth. Sasha passed off the reins to Jen while she put the English tack on Jak, then put his bridle on. The stallion, though a bit surprised, seemed fine with his new attire. Sasha led him once again to the center of the ring and mounted up, walking him around while waiting for Kirsten.

Kirsten brushed down Melting Air and tacked up Roar. She rode him slowly to the outdoor ring and walked him around. Why'd you change Jak's tack? Kirsten asked as she walked Roar by Sasha.

Jak stopped for a moment as Roar came into sight, but started up again with a nudge.Well, right now Jak only rides western. From what I know, more people around here like english. Besides, I think it's good for a pleasure horse to know a few different things instead of just one. If they're a competitor, though, it's better to train them in just one or maybe two until they retire from competition. And also, I prefer english to western. One of the mustang's ears turned back during this short speech, accustoming himself to his rider's voice. Sasha gave him a little squeeze and said,Jak, trot, and he obliged. If he had been trained to voice commands in western, it would have been "jog", but it was never too early to start english voice commands. She sat during his trot, knowing he wouldn't yet be used to posting. The stud had a surprisingly smooth gait for a mustang, she thought as she looked over to watch Kirsten for a moment.

Kirsten watched Sasha with Jak and followed her at a trot with Roar. He followed fairly easily, especially when it came to the faster gaits. Roar loved to canter and so did Kirsten. It was a fluid gate and was very graceful.

To get him a bit ready for training to come, Sasha posted a couple of times every now and then. Jak was a bit surprised and slowed down a bit until leg pressure pushed him faster. The stallion relaxed a bit as he became used to the posting, though confused as to why his rider did it. Once the mustang had relaxed a little more, Sasha asked,"Jak, canter," and gave him a good squeeze. Jak obliged, tossing his head in excitement.

Kirsten watched this and asked Sasha, So is Jak going to specialize in anything or just be an all-around riding horse?

Sasha slowed the horse back down to a walk and gave him pat on the neck.Good job, Jak, she said with a smile. Turning to Kirsten,I haven't quite decided yet. I've only ridden him a few times. I don't believe the previous owner trained him in anything... she trailed off, looking down at the stud.Perhaps he'll just be a pleasure horse.
