Josh pulled into the driveway and drove down awhile, the truck rumbling as it went. PUlling up to the house, he shut it off and Sam vaulted out of the truck back, the dogs following her. SHe opened thedoor and placed her hands on her hips, looking at Aidan."You need to rest by both doctors' orders," she said, waiting for him to come out."You can lay down in Jay's room or in teh living room so you can watch tv or read," she said gently, her eyes soft and worried.

He got out and was about to hurry to the barn to see Shady, but then wheeled around on his heel, hearing her words. He opened his mouth to argue, but then saw her hands on her hips. He looked down, and then back up, looking slighly hopeful.Just for today? He asked her, and then looked over at Josh, and then over to the dogs, and finally back at Sam. He couldn't stay in one place for too long, they had to have known that by now. But he wouldn't fight..at least not that much. |

Sam knew he wanted ot see his buddy and sighed."First, you can see Shady but WALK. Then you have to go inside and rest. The doctor said a week but maybe we can shorten it if you do as you are told," Sam said. Josh strolled to his car and Sam glared at him."Where are you going?" she asked. Josh smiled."To get breakfast, bandades, and some ointment," he said."We don't want your pretty face to be all scratched and scabbed for your wedding do we?" Sam scowled at him but let him go, going over by Aidan.

His eyes brightened happily when she said he could go see Shady, and he was about to jog, but heard the walk, and then the resting part came up again. He sighed. It dind't look like hew as going to get around it. He looked up at her innocently.If I do what I'm supposed to for today..can I come nad watch you out here tomorrow...it's just boring laying around doing nothing... He admitted. He would rather be out here and helping. And if he watched tomorrow, he could probab;y sneak in some work..if it was light. He shrugged lightly and then headed for the barn, trying to keep his pace to a walk, but struggling with it. |

Sam went with him, walking at his side."I knwo its hard to sit around and rest but you got to," she said quietly yo him."I broke my arm as a kid in the middle of a cattle drive and my mom just shifted the bones back into place. A week later, I was in the hospital, delerious and sick. I got an infection and they had to break the bone agian, fix it, then keep me inthe hospital for a week." Shady brought her head out of her stall and nickered, her hair falling into her face again.

He heard her words and sighed softly, looking down at the ground as they walked. He knew she was right, but it was hard excepting that. He listened to her story and was fully grossed out when she finished. That must have been extremely painful.Well..that had to suck... He admitted honestly to her. As they reached the barn, and he saw Shady, he felt instantly better. He hurried to her stall and laid his hand on her muzzle, rubbing up and down as he greeted her. |

Shady snorted softly, her breath blowing into Aidan's face. another head popped up next to her's, Jay's."Hey Aidan!" he said brightfully."You feeling better?" Shady looked at him with an eye and snorted. He had snuck in here to take a nap because it ws too quiet inteh house. Sam leaned on teh barn wall, watching the three interact.

He felt her breath upon his face and he smiled, blowing back. But he jumped back as another face popped up suddenly beside SHady's. It had scared him..that was all. Seeing it was Jay, he smiled and nodded.Hey Jay..and yeah..I am..but they still have me on basic bed rest for a week. He said with a groan. He didn't want to, but he knew it was for the best. He stroked Shady's face again and then wondered why the little boy was in the stall instead of at the house. |

Jay stretched, picking hay and straw out of his clothes altough his hair was covered in it."That has to suck. I can hang out with you if you want," he said hopefully. He had some movies he didn't like to watch alone and they were about western horses and western riders."I got a movie about barrel racing we can watch." Shady breathed in Aidan's scent and snorted softly, backing up to get a grab of hay.

He stifled a laugh when he saw Jay's hair, even though the boy was worried about his clothes. Aidan reached down and got some of the shavings out for him, along with most of the hay. The rest was up to him. But he had actually been the one to go forward, and that was a new thing for him. He really dind't think anything of it though. He took a deep breath and then listened as Jay spoke. Movies would hoepfully pass the time. He smiled in thanks.I'd appreciate it...it'd be fun..and maybe you can give me some tips about barrel racing.. He said, wanting to be more involved with Jay. He seemed like a nice kid, and Aidan appreciated it. |

Jay smiled brightly, his face light up.Sure thing! I would love to! he said excitedly. Sam smiled softly, walking up.Jay is a horse whisperer here. If he can't help you with something about barrel racing or with a horse, he is slacking, she siad, ruffling both boys' hair.

He laughed at Jay's excited words and the look on his face. As Sam came up, he let himself lean against Shady's stall door for extra support. He wouldn't admit that he was feeling tired...it would only make Sam want him to rest more. He smiled up at her.Well..I'll make sure that he doesn't. Meaning that he wasn't going tolet him slack off. He looked back at Shady, her presence comforting him. |

Aidan nodded softly, for once not arguing. He waited for Jay to come over and then started walking towards the house. He was tired, and he would probably fall asleep during the movie, but that was alright. He knew what he was goin to do when he had enough energy, and that was to relieve these kind and generous people of the burdens he had put upon them. When they reached the house, he hurried up the steps and plopped down on the couch, leaving room for Jay. |

Jay hopped over to the tv set and popped a movie in, one about a horse whisperer. It was kinda wierd but interesting and gives you soem tips. He walked back over by Aidan when the movie started and sat on teh floor, his back against the couch.
