Ajax hadn't been touched by anyone other then Jay on this farm, and that was probably how it was going to remain. He was a free spirit and wild at heart, no matter how tame he looked when he was around the boy. He was the only one the stallion trusted it. He tossed his dial in agitation. As he looked past the fence that kept him imprisoned, his heart just ached for that one moment of freedom. Then maybe he could gallop laps around the ranch and feel at peace once more. That's all he wanted. Sighing softly, he snorted and realized that he was in a pasture all by himself. He wondered where the herd was. But he really didn't mind the solitude, so he remained quiet, his mind contemplating the escape of the pasutre. Why not just try the gate? It had to be latched somewhere, and he might he able to work it out. Prancing forward, his buckskin coat gleamed in the early morning sunshine. He was out all day and all night, just what he wanted. Snorting once more, he felt the slight chill, but welcomed it openly. Shreiking his shrill whinny, he tossed his crown up and down and then halted at the gate. Reaching his head over, he craned his neck dowards. He couldn't reach it that way. His black mug lipped at the wood, but nothing happened. Shaking his head, he tried slipping his head through the boards...but that didn't work either. He paced to the side, and then grabbed the top board with his teeth. If he could make it smaller he could jump over it easily. So with this new thought in mind, he started destroying the pasture fence. He kept biting and pulling until the board showed signs of cracking. He finally let go and reared up, striking the board with his front daggers. He was an escape artist that they had never seen before. It didn't break fully that one time, so he reared up once more and struck it with all of his strength. THe board made a large cracking sound and fell, splititng in half. He watched for a moment and then wheeled on his haunches, galloping away from it and warming up his muscles to prepare himself for the jump and the landing. He had done this before...somewhere. Squealing as he turned, he cantered forward, his neck arched and his hooves striking the ground in a steady, rythmic beat. He reached the fence and took off a tthe right moment, hurling himself over the fence. It helped that the top board wasn't there, but he still strained, his back hooves clipping the board rather harshly. He landed, but was unbalanced, so his knees buckled and he toppled to the ground. But he had done it. He gathered his legs and pushed himself up, shaking his head in happiness. He was free of that pasture! He wouldn't leave the ranch, so maybe it was better if he was just allowed free reign. He obviously would just destroy the pasture fence, and it one could imagine what he would do to a stall. He stretched his limbs as he galloped forward, circling the house. He slowed as he reached the back, wanting to know where Jay was. Snorting softly, he searched the windows as he went, and finally saw his sleeping form. And the window was cracked open becasue of the coolness of last night. He nickered gently and fit his nose underneath the opening. He lifted up, and the window slid up. He spooked and scurried backwards, but he realized that was what he wanted to do. He snorted and moved back, then pushed it far enough up so he could fit his head into the room. He whinnied shrilly, making one of of the forms in one of the beds to jump upright, then slip onto the floor in surprise. Aidan's eyes adjusted to the light and then he saw a horse in the window. Was he dreaming? He looked over at his room mate and threw a pillow at him. Jay...wake up..there's a horse in the window...

Hearing the shrill whinny, Jay lifted hsi head before Aidan threw the pillow at him, blinking. Eyes widened when he saw Ajax's head and he merely stared for awhile. Was he seeing things? But it looked too real so he got out of bed and reached out with shaking fingers, touching his muzzle softly.Ajax? he whispered harshly. Why was he out of the pasture??

Aidan groaned and took the other pillow, bringing it over his head, too tired to get back into his bed. He had been up late doing homework, so he was tired. Sighing softly, he drifted back to sleep and just dozed. Ajaw perked his ears excitedly when Jay said his name and nickered evenly, then whinnied shrilly, waking Aidan up again. The older boy grabbed his blanket and his pillow and then moved to the couch out in the family room. At lest there wasn't a horse out here. SIghing, he fell back asleep, leaving the pair to do their own thing. Ajax knew what he wanted, and he lipped at Jay's shirt. He wanted to run with his friend. So he backed away from the window and let his knees buckle. His front knees were bent so that they were touching the ground, and he looked back at the boy expectantly. Would he understand what Ajax wanted? The stallion had never been ridden before..but he wanted Jay to do it..he wanted him to be the first human upon his broad back. He waited patiently, wondering when he would come.

Jay looked at Aidan as he left, biting his lip softly. But when he turned hsi gaze back to the stallion, he was kneeling down. His mouth turned into a O and he crept out teh window, staring in disblief.Me? he whispered, his heart pounding.

As Jay looked away, he nickered to draw his attention back, and then perked his ears as he looked back once more. He snorted and watched as he climbed out the window and stood near him. He stretched his neck up once more and lipped at his shirt sleeve, pulling him closer and nearer to his back. He bobbed his head up and down once more and then looked ahead once more, waiting for jay to hop on. He couldn't stay in this position much longer.

When he had mounted, Ajax made sure that he was settled before standing. Once he was certain, he pushed himself up gracefully and walked forward. It was unnerviing to have a rider on his back, but this was his choice and he wouldn't put Jay in any danger. That was his promise. Snorting softly, he danced as they went along, but he would wait until Jay asked him to go. And when he asked, he would go...and he would go fast and hard...running until he couldn't run anymore. That was how he was. Unless Jay asked him to stop...then he would obey. He tossed his head and continued his dancing walk trot pace, waiting for his signal.

Jay touched his heel against Ajax's flank softly, telling him to go ahead. His hands were buried deep in the stallion's mane and his legs were tight on his sides. He kept a good hold, jsut in case he had to hang on or bail.

As soon as Jay's heels touched his sides, he shot forward. He had jumped a bit, not used to the kicks yet, but he went nonetheless. And he flew...it was like nothing could slow him down. He had the stamina and athleticism of a mustang, so he didn't need to slow or stop anytime soon. He galloped straight by the house and went over the driveway, heading for the grassy fields...still mindful of Jay.

Jay held on tight but felt like he was flying. His hair was ruffled and flew around, making him laugh. He crouched down close to Ajax's back and his mane tickled his face, making him smile, Carefully, he touched Ajax's left flank, asking him to turn left. He didn't want to leave the ranch grounds.

He snorted softly, barely feeling jay upon his back. THe boy was so light, and it gave him freedom as well as letting him bond with the one he had become to trust. He tossed his head and then felt the pressure to his left side. He turned right, doubling back and going to the ranch. He saw a form walking, but he dind't know who it was. He suddenly slid to a halt, rearing slightly to keep Jay upon his back. He didn't want him falling to the ground. He walked forward now, wanting Jay to stay with him.

Jay wrapped his arms around Ajax's neck when he reared up, his eyes wide. When he settled, Jay shook a finger at him.Why did you do that? No sudden stops please, I don't want to die, he said in a scolding/joking voice. With a sigh he patted Ajax's neck and looked around. What spooked him?

It was just a bag...a plastic bag blowing in the wind. But it had come unexpectedly and he had backed away hurriedly. He didn't want Jay to fall off, so he calmed himself, but craned his neck around to touch Jay's foot. He was afraid, and he was asking his rider and companion for reassurance. ANd he couldn't help but wonder where the other humans were. Would they be angry at Jay for riding him? What would happen. He backed up a few steps and then bolted once more, settling into the pace, and hoping no one scolded Jay for riding.

Jay scratched his neck, murmering softly to him. The bag soon got stuck on a tree, fluttering helplessly. The morning was young and Sam was probably riding on some of the trails somewhere. She always did lately and seemed to avoid everyone except Aidan when he needed her and Jake. Lady was always with her too, growling and gaurding her.

Snorting in anger at himself for spooking at such a little thing, he shook his head. It was funny to see him grow frustrated with himself. It showed intelligence and understanding as well, and he soon found himself wanting to switch courses. So he obeyed his instincts and took off towards one of the trails. Poor Jay would probab;y be late for school, but maybe no one would care. He galloped onwards, slowing to a hand gallop to make sure nothing popped out unexpectedly and scared him once more.
