He watched as she stood up and opened the shades, and he had to sheild his eyes for a moment to get used to it. Hearing her question, he nodded excitedly. He stood quickly, and then looked back at the cot.What do you want me to do with it? He wondered, thinking she might want him to put it away. He waited quietly for her response. |

Sam shrugged."Josh can put it away or put it in Jay's room for you," she said. She smiled at him softly and opened the front door, letting the dogs pour out. Dasi stayed inside, sleeping with her boy.

He felt bad about making Josh put it away, but he followed after he without another word, grabbing his sneakers. There was not really much left of them, but they worked and he didn't want to part with them. He shoved his feet in and followed her outside, careful not to be tripped by the dogs. |

Sam went out barefoot, wiggling her toes. Her feet had tough callouses and they made it so she could walk on anything but coals and glass. Heading to the barn, she stopped at the first stall, looking at Aidna."This is Samurai, aka the Devil Mare," she said. Samurai snorted softly and eyed Aidan, wondering if he was good or if she would have to bite him.

He followed her out, noting her bare feet. Not way..not him...he would never walk barefoot. He looked up at the first mare and kept his distance after hearing her nickname. He looked back at Sam in uncertainty. He didn't exactly want to lose any of his fingers, so he kept his distnace.She's nice... He offered and waited to move to the next stall. |

Sam smiled and went to teh next stall."This is Booger, Josh's horse," she said, rolling her eyes."As you can tell by his name but its also because of this riht here," she pointed at a white sliver under a nostril that looked like a booger.

He saw her roll her eyes and he smiled slightly, and then looked at the marking on his nose. It did look like a booger...he laughed gently, surprising himself. He hadn't laughed in a long time, so he looked away.He's nice... He didn't really know any other way to describe the horses. So he was sticking with nice. |

Sam smiled and went to another, somewhere in teh stable."This is Shady, she said, introducing him to the large black and white mare. The mare snorted softly and walked forward, her long hair covering her face so she had to shake it out of the way.

As Shady walked forward, he admired her from where he was standing. He really like the mare, and he watched her carefully. He looked up at Sam with a small smile.I like her...is she yours? He wondered. She could be Jay's or someone elses, so it was a reasonable question. |

Sam nodded, her eyes smiling as well as her lips."Every horse in here but a few are mine. We got some boarders here and some of our workers leave their horses here but the rest are mine," she said. THe mare butted his chest softly, her eyes watching him. Sam blinked in surprise. First Rae, now Aidan. Was she a angel in horse form?

He listened quietly and then nodded. It must be nice to have all the horses you could imagine...but he knew a lot of hard work went into it. It wasn't just for show. He felt the mare butt his chest and he looked down in surprise. He reached forward slowly and stroked her muzzle, wondering why she had butted him like that. She didn't even know him yet. But he liked her...and he wanted to get to know the mare better. |

Sam smiled. She found her healer. Touching Aidan's shoulder softly she grinned."Would you like to ride her?" she asked. Shady lifted her head and blew softly into his face, waiting for him to do the same back to her.

Aidan felt the blow in his face, and he looked back at the mare. He blew softly into at her muzzle and then looked up in surprise as Sam questioned him.Me? Ride her? I would love to...if that's okay... He asked her in reply. He continued petting Shady, growing to like her even more. He didn't realize that the horse would help heal him in ways that Sam and her family could not. He needed a lot of help..but maybe the mare could provide it for him. |

Sam smiled and brought him a lead rope."Bring her out and groom her some while I get her saddle and bridle," she said, heading to the tack room. Shady snorted softly and lowere dher head, her teeth gripping the bolt. Sliding it down, she nudged teh door open alittle, waiting for the lead rope to be clipped on her halter.

He took the lead rope from Sam and looked back at Shady in amazement. He watched as she opened her stall door, and then he clipped the leadline t to the ring on her halter. He pushed the door open wider so she could pass through and then led her to the cross ties. He clipped the cross ties to her halter and then unclipped her leadline, putitng it neatly to the side. He found her brushes and began currying her coat, wondering when Sam was coming back. |
