Aidan led Charlie easily into the arena. His limp was visible, and he only needed a cane now to help him sometimes. But right now, he carried nothing. Looking around almost guiltily, he brought Charlie into the middle by the mounting block. His saddle was fitted upon her back once more, and then he grabbed the reins, pulling them over her head. She stood easily, knowing that something wasn't right with her rider. He had changed, and his personality had as well. He was a lot more shy, and he never did anything that wasn't allowed. Except for this perhaps. Sighing, he stepped up on the mounting block and tried figuring out how he was going to get on. His left leg was no longer with him, and he couldn't get on with it like this. He asked his mare to turn, and it was a bit awkward, but he got on from the right side, pulling himself over like that. Through all of that, the paint equine stood quietly, knowing what to do. He patted her neck softly as the butterflies flew through his stomach. He was actually siting on his horse with his fake leg. He could do this agian. He knew he could. Guiding the foot into the stirrup, he made sure it was sitauted before asking her to walk.
Charlie started off at a slow pace and they warmed up that way. He asked her for a jog, and she went slihgtly hesitantly. He wasn't fully better yet, and she didn't want him to push it. But he seemed alright. Trotting forward, she made sure that she was smooth as possible for her young owner, and then she was asked to lope. She went obediently, then heard AIdan's small gasp of pain. She flicked her ear back towards him, but no command was given. SHe kept going, and he finally asked her to stop after they went around twice. He patted her neck.Alright girl. Thank you Charlie.. He whispered softly and kept her walking.
