Aidan was trying to work off the thoughts of going to school tmoorow for the first time in years. He was smart, there was no doubt about that...but that wasn't what worried him. The bruises and scratches were still visible upon his features, and his ribs were still not yet helaed. THey weer broken and cracked, and he figured that carrying a backpack might not help. But he'd do it anyway. And he was goign to ride today..around the barrels..whether they held up or not. His thoughts flickered to Raelynn, and how she did at the competition. He had said he would go, but becuase of his accident he couldn't. Well..the accident wasn't his fault. It was his father's. Shaking his head softly, he led his paint mare into the arena. Charlie was unsure about this..for she knew Aidan was in pain. But she was too well trained to disobey. Aidan had decided on western today, for a half seat over the jumps would definitely kill him. Not literally, but ...well,..whatever. He mounted, grimacing as his ribs were jostled. But he didn't care. He gathered ther eins and moved her forward.
After warming her up thoroughly, he let her jog to over where they would start the run. She snorted, her ears perked exictedly. He leaned forward slightly and gave her head for a moment, then nudged her with his heels.Go girl... He whispered, and she jumped forward, her legs spinning madly. They were around the first barrel and Aidan could feel the pressure. He didn't know if he'd be able to make it through the whole thing. Pushing her forward even more, he tucked her around the barrel easily, and they shot off for the next one. They turned, and Aidan felt the pop before he knew what was happening. He had pushed it too hard, and the one that was bruised had just cracked. He groaned out with a cry and puleld her up. Charlie stopped isntantly and felt him slipping from the saddle. He doubled over, holding his hand over his ribs. Why had he done something so stupid? He would be alright..for there was nothign you could do for broken ribs..but he had just ruined his chances of riding anytime soon.

I gripped the reins lightly, leading the leopard appy mare to the arena. My gaze fell on the mare, she and I were inseperable now. A smile curved my lips as I looked to the arena. I seen Aidan riding Charlie, but my smile faded slowly and I looked down embarrased. I hadn't visited him while he was in the hospital and I knew he could have used a visit.
I continued to walk with my gaze set to the ground, but when Affair tossed her head violently and suddenly I looked up. Gaze fell on Aidan as he doubled over. I was in the arena quickly, hurrying to his side briskly. I had left Affair at the rails, I knew she wouldn't go anywhere. I looked to Aidan, he was in evident pain. I rested a hand gently on his shoulder, not putting any weight on it.
Aidan? Are you okay?
I questioned, lyricals full of concern. Aidan was one of the two friends I had, and the other was Sam. Gaze shifted to the barn, wondering what was the best thing to do for Aidan.

He was trying to calm himself and try to forget the tremendous pain he was now in. Taking several, deep breaths, he started relaxing. He gradually straightened, standing up a little bit at a time. The rib would hurt, but just as much as the other broken one. And he knew he'd be able to live. He usually always did. And it was amazing his fingers had healed so quickly after his father had broken them, but if a person looked close enough they would see that they weren't straight. They were slightly crooked and swerved, but that wasn't any fault of his own. He just was used to it. But right now, it was his rib that needed attention. Taking a deep breath, he exhaled slowly and suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. He hadn't heard anyone come in, so he instantly jumped, not crying out. It had surprised him, and when he turned gingerly to see Rae, he relaxed.
But his face reddened with embarrassment. His hand still slung to his side, and he listened to her question. He nodded and looked right at her, talking slowly still so that she could understand him.I'm fine..thanks though. But seeing her again, his heart jumped. It was as if something new was happening, and he didn't know what or how to explain it. Sighing softly, he waited for her words before doing anything else. But his mind flew, questioning himself. Do I like her? How could that have happened? What was going on with him lately? He shook his head to himself slightly and then waited patiently, looking at her gently.

I watched his expressions change, I left my hand on his shoulder. Kissers curved in a small smile, being around Aidan always lifted my mood. I looked to my hand, then pulled it away, cheeks flushed slightly. It was easy to read his lips, and I dodn't know if he knew how much Itruely appreciated that. He poske slowly and formed his words clearly, making it easy for me to read his lips.
Are you sure?
I questioned, once again speaking softly and smoothly. Emerald eyes focused on him, I was determined to make sure he was truely okay.

Seeing her redden caused him to do so as well, and he looked down a moment before looking back up as she questioned him. He didn't want her to move her hand, but she had. He gently reached forward and took her hand gently, still gazing at her.I'm sure..just a little sore... He offered, and then realized what he was doing. He dropped hers instantly and felt embarrassed. What had caused him to do that? Fumbling with the reins in his hands, he looked up at Charlie and then back to Rae.Uh..well..I uh should put her away... He still spoke slowly, but the words were fumbling out. He reddened and then turned to Charlie, turning to walk her out to cool her down.

I let him take my hand, but I had been shocked. My skin tingled, I felt as if I would collapse when my knees went weak. I quickly shifted my gaze to the ground as he let go. I looked up just in time to see his lips move, he fumbled with his words but I made out most of it. I took Charlie's reins from him.
You take it easy, I can do it.
I held the reins out of his reach, I wouldn'tlet him try to take them back from me and do the work while he was in pain, even if it didn't hurt that much. I lead Cahrlie in the direction of the barn, I grabbed Affair's reins and lead her to the barn also. Gaze averted back to Aidan,a small smile curved my lips. I was dead set when I made up my mind, well....except for a couple things. I hooked Charlie to the crossties and then did the same with Affair. I moved back to Charlie and slid the saddle of her back after unfastening the girth.

He suddenly didn't feel the reins in his hands anymore, and he looked up at her in surprise. His mouth gaping slightly, he stared after her. He was about to call after her, but she wouldn't be able to hear. Sighing, he hurried to walk behind her, looking as if he wasn't going to do anything. He wouldn't sneak up on her or anything, so he just walked until they reached the barn. Seeing the smile and he gave her a playful frown and then stood off to the side when he put the horse's in the corss ties. Seeing his chance, he gently took her shoulders and moved her over to Affair. Making sure she was looking at him, he spoke with a small grin.My turn. Through all of this, he was hiding all of his pain, which he had become very good at because of his father. He nodded and then released her, going back over to Charlie.
He started brushing her coat, making sure that there weren't any dirt spots visible. He did his best not to bend his rib area, but it was getting increasingly difficult. He groaned, knowing she wouldn't be able to hear him. Shaking his head softly, he finsihed her coat and began on her mane and tail.

One thing that did bug me was when people took advantage of me since I was deaf. I felt his hands on my shoulder, all the muscles in my body immedaitely loosened and my skin tingled. I read his lips and nodded with a smile. He guided me to Affair then he returned to Charlie. I untacked her quickly and began grooming her, my gaze averted over to Aidan, I didn't hear him moan. I finished grooming her quickly, making sure to be thorough with my work. I stepped back and gazed at Affair, my hands resting on my hips as I admired my work.
I picked up the tack and made my way to the tack room, replacing the tack on the rack. I had never really taken the time to look around the room, I moved to the far wall. There were pictures, my gaze stopped on each of them as I studied each one.
