He was never able to hear the end of that lullaby, but he was determined to one day. He sighed in his sleep, and then called out, but did nothing else. When morning came, he was awake and ready to leave. He sat up in bed, and looked over to Sam, and then to the door. When would Josh be here? |

Sam dozed softly, a rosery tangled in her fingers. It wasn't there last night when Aidan was awake. It was black with a glodish looking cross at the bottom, a couple saint charms behind and around it.

Aidan looked over at Sam, and saw something in her hands. He studied it for a moment and then realized it was a cross. He was surprised for a moment, but he got over it qickly. He saw his clothes folded neatly on the chair beside him, and he took a chance. He got up slowly, feeling sore and slightly winded, but made it to the bathroom. He changed as quickly as he could, and came back out, wondering where he should put the hospital gown. |

Sam woke up when he came out and stretched, her back cracking. Looking around, she saw Aidan and smiled slightly."Hey. You look better," she commented. A decil truck rumbled by the room window, sounding like Sam's truck.

Seeing her awake, and hearing her back crack, he smiled hesitantly.I feel weird thoughh...like all winded and crap. He told her truthfully. He heard the truck and went to the window, looking out it and recognizing Sam's truck. He went back to the bed and sat on the edge, waiting patiently. The doctor came in and saw Aidan already dressed. They were going to have a big problem keeping him in bed. He smiled over at Sam and then went to Aidan.Just making sure you're alright to go home. He told the boy when he saw the look of alarm on his face. He made him breath in and out, and listened to his heart. It wasn't as strong as it should be, but it was getting better. He looked at the stitches on his abdomen and put a fresh bandage on it. He looked back at Sam.He'll have to come back in two weeks to get those out, and then a check-up as well. He patted AIdan on the back softly, and then told them goodbye. He was ready to go home. |

Sam smiled softly and rubbed the back of her neck, standing up, tucking the rosary away, it went into a pouch that was tied to a necklace that went around her neck. Looking at Aidan, she nodded."Lets go home, hon'," she said, heading for the door. SHe opened it and stepped outside, waiting for Aidan.

He faltered when she had called him hon. Hon? He wouldn't question it, but it made him feel warm inside when it had been socalled all those times before. He smiled softly and hopped up from the bed, then walked to the door. His pace was a little slower then normal, but it was to be expected. But he hurried to the hospital door, wanting to be out of this place. He went out the doors and took a deep breath of fresh air. Finally..he was free. |

Sam stretched happily, takling in deep breaths. It smeled too much like a nursing home for her compfort and she was happy to be out. Her truck and Josh were waiting for them, rumbling softly."Hey Sam. Hey Aidan," he called, waving. In the back was two dogs, Duke and Linny, Linny trying to see. Sam smiled and opened the door, waiting for Aidan to hop in.

He heard Josh's greeting and looked up.Hi Josh... He offered and then saw Linny and Duke in the back. He went up to them, having started to like Linny. He pet her head, and then Duke's as well, still careful around them just in case. He went to the other side of the truck and got in, closing the door with a bit of effort behind the pull. He was still weak, but he wouldn't admit it. He buckled and laid his head back, waiting to go back to the ranch. |

Sam hopped in the back, openin gthe back windo wso she could talk to both."Sam.. WHY do you alwasy sit back there?" Josh asked with a roll of hsi eyes. Sam grabbed his ear and twisted it until he yelped."Thats why. Now lets go home," Sma said and Josh pulle dout of the parking lot, headed back to the ranch.

Aidan looked for Sam, and heard Josh's words about her bing in the back. He turned a bit to look back at her, and was about to face forward when she saw her twist Josh's ear. He smiled and stifled a laugh when Josh yelped, and then looked out the window, pressing his forehead to it since it was nice and cold. He waited for them to get to the ranch, impatiently. |
