The days leading up to this had seemed to drag on forever, I tried to make the time pass by quickly but it made it seem only farther away. But now it was here, and there was no turning back now. We were here early, Sam and I. The others should be here after I was out of the O.R., and I really hoped to see everyone. I flipped th page of the magazine mindlessly, my gaze shifted up to the clock about every 10 seconds. I sighed and bit my bottom lip, I was waiting in a small room with Sam for the doctor to take me in the back and prepare me for surgery.
The soft click and turn of the doorknob was unheard to me, but soon that would change. My gaze shifted up when I seen movement. There he was. The doctor that was about to change my life. I set the magazine down on the small table and stood up to greet him. The older man pulled me into a hug and patted my back softly with a smile. He held my shoulder and looked at me directly.
Are you ready?
I nodded to answer his question, I clenched and unclenched my fists nervously. He looked to Sam and spoke, I had looked down at my feet, I failed to read his lips. He then looked back to me and gave a small squeeze of my shoulders. I looked up and he motioned for me to follow him. I stopped at Sam and gave her a hug, giving her a small smile of reassurance even though it was I who needed it. I turned and followed th doctor out of the room and into another little room with a gurney. On it laid a gown, a hair net thing, and three extra blankets. Around my neck hung the necklace, the one my parents had given to me in my younger years. I held it between my fingers slightly and lifted it to my lips to give it a soft kiss for luck. I moved over to the bed, the doctor was busy writing things down in a folder. I grapped the gown and went to the small bathroom to change into it. I took my time changing, tying the ribbons slowly as if to memorize that moment. I stood for a moment, watching myself in the full length mirror that hung on the door. I smiled slightly and walked back over to the bed.
The tile foor was cold under my bare feet, I was busy pulling my long blonde hair up into a high ponytail. Once I was done I slipped on the little hairnet, smiling softly as I assured myself that it was very sexy. I couldn't help but chuckle softly at my thoughts. The doctor walked over to me with a nurse and motioned for me to get into the bed. I obeyed and pulled the covers up to my chest. The nurse began to hook machines to me, and she then gave me a shot with a small dose of something. A few minutes later I was groggy, noting that the shot must have been of some sort of prep anethesia. I watched as the hands of the clock slowly moved. The doctor finally returned to me and said that the others could visit me before the surgery. I nodded and closed my eyes after he had left the room. He was going to go tell the others that they could see me before I went into surgery. Hopefully Aidan was here.
I opened my eyes slowly, gazing up at the ceiling mindlessly as I waited for someone to return. My thoughts were mixed up due to the dosage, so I just forced my mind to clear completely. The surgery would only take a few hours, and my recovery time was shockingly short. |

The surgery was over, and I was being wheeled into a recovery room wher I would wake from the anestetic. The nurse checked the machines and wrote stuff down in the folder. She then left the room and gave the folder to the doctor. I lay there, my chest moving up and then down slowly and steadily. My peaceful slumber was still undisturbed, but soon I would begin to wake.
