Facts: Jigger was left at a stable with no food or water for quite awhile. We don't know how long but he is getting better.

Thank God he didn't get eaten.  Name: May Age: 4 Breed: Rottwieler Color: Black/tan Size: med Facts: Was abandoned with her pups at a stable with other dogs. From her papers, her father was a army hound and her mother was a very good show dog.  Name: Angel

Melanie walked in easily, seeing the two younger puppies. Jigger and Angel. She felt her heart go out to them immediaitely. She already had three dogs..but what could two or three more hurt? She looked down at Joey as well and then looked around for the attendant. |

The three pups whined softly, bouncing in thier group cage. Angel and Joey were siblings and Jigger was just abandoned. April was at the ferret's pen, cleaning it and feeding the poor thing.

Melanie kneeled down to pet all three of them, smiling at their energy even after what they had been through. She looked up for anyone who might work here, wondering where they were. SHe looked over and saw the woman.Excuse me? I don't mean to bother you or anything...but is there anyway I can talk to you about buying the three puppies? |

April looked at Melanie and smiled softly.Sure. The trio is 50 bucks. THey really need a home, she said adn looked at the other woman.I will get to you in a second ma'dam, and turned back to Mel.

Melanie smiled as April came over to her, and she listened softly. Nodding her head, she looked to the puppies, and then back at the woman.Well...I live at Grand Stables with three other dogs. But they are all spoiled rotten. Do you need to come look around first, or can I pay you now? I'm really interested in taking them home with me..the poor things. SHe said softly and looked back at April. |

April smiled sweetly.They are fine. I don't need to look over your stable. It is adoption day and they need a home, she said.They were much worse before they cam ehere. They had been, skinny, dirty, hungery. Their mother didn't have enough food for them cause she didn't even have enough food for herself. As soon as they came to the humane society, they were weaned and given real food.

Seeing the smile, her heart lifted slightly. She hated seeing animals in pain, and this was a perfect opportunity to help. She quickly reached into her back pocket and brought out her wallet. Seeing the fifty tucked away for emergencies, she brought it out. This was a big enough emergency. She gently held it out for April.I can give you updates every month if you want...I think you were heere when I adopted Jenny and the baby ferret... |

April squinted her eyes alittle, looking at Mel, and broke out in a huge grin.So it is! I am glad to see you again, she said cheerfully.These guys will be in good hands if they are with you. You are a good rescuer. Her eyes were kind and a smile was on her face.I had to be there to get evedence from the stable. It was depressing. She shookher head sadly. Being a cop and a humane society work had it downs but the best ups.

SHe smiled and then wondered if she could have a friend in April. Since she was new, she didn't really know anyone. Taking a deep breath, she listend quietly, and then thought a moment.Well..thank you. I'm always glad to help. And if you ever needed another work around here..I'd be glad to do it..for free of course. She offered gently, and then waited for her reply. |

April smiled softly, shaking ehrhead.Thats ok, we have enough workers, she said with a small laugh.I am also in charge of the horse rescue and we have two workers up there, and a new cop that I knew in high school. But thankyou for asking. We get vulenteers from the high school and they have fun with teh animals, April said with a smile. A young voulneteer came over and took the three pups out of the pen, putting thier leshes on. Acting like pups do, they attacked each other's leashes, barking gleefully. May watched her two birth pups and the one she adopted leave mournfully.

Jessi and Jenny walked over. Jessi layed eyes an May and was hooked, and Jenny,who loves ferrets,looked at Meow.
