The sun was still quite low in the sky when Chelsea pulled the keys from the ignition of her car. It had been her 18th birthday present from her parents and she took meticulous care of it. She climber out, smoothing down her skirt. She'd worn her smart clothes today: a cream shirt with half-sleeves, her current favourite pale pink patterned fitted jacket and a matching pink skirt that was fitted to the knee with a slight ruffle. She slammed the door of her car and turned, clicking the keys to lock it. She liked the sound it made, and smiled in the fresh morning sunshine. Glancing at her watch, she turned into the driveway of the farmhouse, pushing her hair out of her face. The door loomed closer and Chelsea felt the first bubbles of excitement. Could this really be the place? Reaching the door, she hooked what she hoped was a polite smile on her face. Then, as an afterthought, she took off her sunglasses so the owner would be able to see who they were talking to. Then, taking a deep breath, she raised a hand and knocked clearly a few times on the wood of the door.
[Hello! Y'know, it's weird posting so small. I've basically left out all the detail but I'm sure you'll pick it up. Usually I'd want it to be long but on here it doesn't matter XD]

Kai was sprawled on the sofa, at the time when the girl was locking up her car, flicking through a horse magazine. On the first few days of the stable being open, hed bought the new issue of the local horse magazine, and had seen his own face plastered onto the front cover. Now he was just browsing through the sales pages, not looking for anything in particular, when he heard a knock at the door. Getting up he shuffled over to the door, his socks not making a sound as he went. He opened the door and as he pushed it to one side, saw the girl.''Oh hey there, is there anything I can help you with?''
[ ooc - xD yeah I did, well in my opinion it gives you all the info you really need .. So that’s what happened to the length of my posts.. I don’t describe stuff I seeee .. I mean, look at this post ^ it could have been WAAAAAAY longer after he had spoken, but I'm ever so lazy ;]]

The door opened, and Chelsea quelled the butterflies in her stomach. It's not like an interview, she told herself, just be confindent. Still when the door opened, she was surprised at how young the guy looked. For a moment, she was taken aback. He was a good-looking bloke. Although she'd grown out of her "date every guy within reach" phase, she couldn't help noticing when guys were handsome. She stopped herself from reaching out to stroke his pretty hair, and instead smiled a little more widely."Hey; you're Kai Winters, right? Or am I at the wrong place?" She was pretty sure he was Kai Winters. But she didn't want to launch into anything within being positive. She pushed her handbag further up her arm, concious that he would be watching her every move. She hated being alone with strangers. Suddenly Chelsea was dying for a cigarette.
[Tut tut you lazy person! I'm still struggling to keep mine short here XD. And don't worry, I did look at Kai's piccy first. And he really is pretty good-looking. Heh.]

He surveyed her with his deep blue eyes, that looked as though they were contacts, hard to believe they were natural. In the moments silence that followed, he was able to get a pretty good look at her. Fairly average height and young, maybe nineteen? He ran his fingers through his dark brown hair, and then heard her speak, almost immediately after beginning to start conversation himself.''Yep, that’s me'' sort to blunt, he decided and ran through his mind for anything else he could say, but alas he found himself completely at a loss. So it was up to this girl, who ever she was, to make the next move.

Chelsea let out a smal sigh. Well, at least she'd been able to find the house. From the B&B where she'd spent last night, it had only been about two hours to One Hope, and then she'd been able to get directions from that nice woman who ran the street diner. She shifted, uncomfortable under his steely gaze. Trying to ignore it, she stood up straighter."Well, Mr. Winters, I arrived here this morning.." she gestured vaguely in the direction of the town,"..and I heard you were looking for workers. I need employment, you see." She tried to make the words sound bright as she glanced around her. The house looked big, and the garden was nice too. She felt her heart lighten a little; this might turn out to be a really nice place to work. Then, remembering where she was, she turned back to Kai."I can do grooming, and I've done a little vetinary.." she was blabbering a bit, she knew, but she otherwise he might think she was a newbie;"..and I'm not too bad at training," she finished, running a hand through her hair; a habit she'd never been able to shake.

Pausing with his observations he listened to what she had to say, she sounded like she could be a valuable addition to the stable. It would help to have someone handy at the stable who had done some practice in vetinary work. Especially considering the two foals that Sara was supposed to be foaling at the end of the week. And he couldn’t help but know that one of them was a gonner. He gave a slight cough to clear his own mind and then came back to be looking at her.''Well, from what you've said you are welcome to start a job here'' Kai spoke at a moderate pace, thinking of what he was going to say before he did.''We have a few new young horses here that new horses here that need a bit of schooling, so your help with training them would be great.'' He now wondered about her situation, and so directed his next sentence with that thought in mind.''And will you be needing accommodation? We offer you a place to stay here as well''.

She couldn't help but looked amazed. He was actually quite friendly, it seemed. Perhaps not as reserved as she had first thought. And a job? It sounded great, although she noticed he looked a little troubled before he spoke. Still, she was overjoyed. Pinebrook was the first reccommendation she'd had; after she'd left school a few years ago she's spent months searching for her a first job. But she's always been interested in a career in horses, despite the fact that she'd never been able to afford her own. As a little girl, she'd hung out around the racetrack and got to help out with lessons sometimes. So One Hope had sounded perfect. Quiet, friendly, and away from her overbearing parents."Really?"Her eyes shone. Then, realising she must look like a child, he leaned back and re-composed herself, smoothing down her skirt again absently."Yes, accomodation would be great. I can pay my board for the first few weeks if you'd like.." She looked up at him. Even though she was quite tall, she still had to raise her head to survey his face.

''Oh no, provided you work here, accommodation has no fee'' he said with a smile, but then his attention turned to the fact that he didn’t know if this girl owned a horse herself, if she did and wanted to board here, then fees would get involved.''Do you own a horse, Miss...?'' he asked, prompting both whether she had a horse and her own name. He stood patiently as he waited for her reply, leaning on the door frame slightly.

Chelsea smiled, her teeth gleaming. A brace she had had for a year and a half when she was eleven had see that her teeth were now almost completely straight, which is partly why she smiled so much all the time."Thank you," she said brightly,"And no, I don't have a horse, much as I'd love it." She gave a short laugh. She's always wanted a horse of her own, ever since she'd first become intested in ponies at the age of six. She hadn't even started riding until she was ten, but she'd loved helping to muck out the stables just outside her town. Then, remebering that he'd also asked for her name, she said,"Chelsea. Chelsea Daniels." Her eyes flicked to the hell behind him. and she wondered whether he was a busy man, running a stable."Shall I come back for a tour and to get settled in in a few days time, Mr. Winters? Whenever suits you best; I'll be staying in the town anyway so it's not far.."

''Oh no, I'm fee for the rest of today-'' Kai said. For someone who seemed so young, this girl, Chelsea, was very polite towards him.''-in fact, if you want to stay along at the Guest house, your welcome. There are a few people working here already, so you wont be on your own down there''. Kai nodded down a gravel path a short walk from his house, indicating where the Guest House was.''If you want, I can show you around the stables, and then we can come back and I'll take you to the Guest House. Some of the others might be there, so you might be able to meet them later'' he said, trying fit all he wanted to say into one long speech. True, Emilie Black was always in the Guest house, eating or watching TV, Charlie Downer was usually down at the stables grooming they horses. Lilith Johnson was more often than not with Emilie, and the others came and went as they pleased. Apart from Joe, he spent his days in general around Pine Brook, attending to stuff when Kai wasn’t around. Coming back from his thoughts, Kai also reminded himself that she kept calling him 'Mr. Winters', and for Kai, it seemed a bit to.. posh.''Oh, and please just call me Kai, easier to say..'' he said, a friendly smile curving the corner of his lips as his blue eyes went back to Chelsea.

Checlsea was surprised.Obviously not as busy as I thought, she mused, although she had been secretly hoping he might show her round today. It saved her from having to pay another few night's stay at a hotel and she wouldn't have to fill up her car again. She was excited at the prospect of other workers. Much as she was starting to like Kai, he was about to become her boss and it would be nice to have compnay in her works around the stables. And, of course, they could help her with the work. She wasn't yet sure whether she wanted to go into a full-time career, although by what she'd seen of Kai's lifestyle she could see herself owning a stables someday. But right now, she was almost skint."That would be wonderful," she replied, aware that she had almost left his offer hanging,"I can't wait to see the guest house, too. I guess I'll bring in my baggage once I've had a look around the place." Chelsea hitched her bag up her shoulder again, and, doing so, glanced at her watch. It was nearly 10am, and Chelsea suddenly realised that the morning had been a rather random time to appear."Oh, by the way, Kai, I'm sorry to have disturbed you so early," she said quickly, biting her lip. Then, returning to her previous smile, she said,"Shall we?"
[Yeess, the posh tosh.. but Chelsea must always be a polite little girl and call her boss by his proper name ^_^]

''Oh no worries, a few days ago I had someone turn up at six thirty in the morning'' Kai said, indeed Lilith had turned up promptly at that time, knocking on his door as loudly as she could, because he had still been sleeping. Thankfully Charlie had been out to exercise the horses, and spotted her. Kai nodded as she suggested that he start showing her around,''Okay then, here is my house as you can see-'' he said gesturing to the house, a small wooden plaque fixed to the wall beside the door read 'Pine Brook House'. Kai followed a side path of gravel down a small slope until he came to the house where any people who worked here could stay ''- here is where you'll be staying, I'll show you the inside of the place later''. Kai walked on again, this time back to the path to the house and then followed it in the other direction down to the barns, approaching the indoor arena he pushed open the double doors, allowing Chelsea to see inside.''This is the indoor arena, you can come and exercise the horses in here and do jumping and dressage or anything else-'' then he moved over to a path down to a large outdoor arena and stopped but didn’t go down. ''There is the outdoor arena, and the fields behind it is the cross country course''. He allowed another minute to tick by to allow her to take it all in before he walked back down, and this time into the first barn. He pointed up a flight of stars just inside the entrance, and pointed to the door at the top of them.''Up there is my office, if anything happens and I'm not around there is a phone at the bottom of the stairs as well'' he said, next he showed Chelsea the tack room, then walked out of the barn again, and showed her where the horses could be hosed down after work. Then he crossed to the end of the first barn and there was a gravel path that lead down to the pastures, at the gate of the nearest one stood Deva, her ears twitching as she spotted the two people. Beside her was Izzi, Allo, Billie, Jenna and Penny, most not paying attention to Kai and the girl, but continuing to graze.''So, what do you think?

"This all looks great!" Chelsea exclaimed. Previously, she hadn't realised what a large business Kai was running. But the grounds were actually big. She was impressed as she trailed behind him, and had second thoughts about working here. Well, she didn't have that much experience, so hopefully she could start off with something easy, and gain some confidence. However, already she was starting to feel at home among the familiar smells and sounds. So far, she hadn't seen any of the other workers, but she presumed some of them might be staying in the guest house. Would she get her own room? Chelsea tried to imagine herself cramming her stuff into half a room, and failed. Still, the prospect of living her own life in her own house was exciting enough to keep a smile on her face. As they stopped, she reached out a hand to brush the nearest horse's silky muzzle, giggling at its warm breath. Then, turning back to Kai, she said,"Shall I go pick up my cases? If you've got stuff to do, I'm sure I can figure out the guest house myself." Although she didn't want to make him think she was trying to get rid of him, she had realised that he probably was pretty busy with this and that about his stables, and didn't want to hold him up.

''Well, I suppose that'd be alright'' Kai said thoughtfully and momentarily cast his eyes upwards at the sky. Then looking back to Chelsea he spoke ''Well, you know where to find the Guest House. So, just go up there when you get back-'' The young man searched around in his pocket and eventually pulled out a key ''Use this to get in if the doors looked. You'll be in room 5'' he said, thinking that was probably a good place for her to go, since Emilie was in room 6 and Lilith in room 4.''I should go and have a check on the horses, so if you need anything you'll have to ask one of the guys up there'' he said, referring to the Guest House, and the other employees.

"Great. Thanks for all your help, Kai." She flashed him a smile, thinking about the other employees. She'd need to make a good impression. Turning back in the direction of the road, she fished around in her bag for the keys. Despite the bag looking very small from the outside, it seemed bottomless every time she wanted to find something. Finally, she felt the cold metal and pulled them out."I'll see ya round," she called as she disappeared around the corner of the house, her stiletto heels clacking down the drive. Reaching her car, she opened the boot and pulled out her two over-stuffed cases with a struggle. It was obvious she'd brought far too much. At least she'd have her own room. With this comforting thought, she began lugging her cases back towards the guesthouse.
