The school was silent, lessons before lunch were still ongoing. The kids waited anxiously
for the bell to ring, and announce there hour of freedom before more work. In one
particular class they were having a French lesson, and the pupils sat boredly at their
desks, as the teacher droned on about feminine and masculine word endings. Tatiana sat
at a desk by the wall, her small chin rested on her palm in boredom. The teacher asked
her a question and she looked up blankly.''Umm..'' she hesitated, her friend on the
table next to her hissed the answer at her twice, but the teacher noticed.''That’s quite
enough Miss Holt! Now, Maybe if you had been listening, Tatiana, you would have heard
what I said!'' the teacher said, staring down her ski slope nose at the strawberry blonde. Tatiana
muttered a 'yeas miss' and looked at her friend as the teacher walked away ''Old
hag'' her friend said with a grin. Tatiana shook her head and giggled. At that moment
the bell rung and they all breathed a sigh of relief. The scraping of chairs was filling the
air, and the sounds of all the kids talking. Tatiana chatted with her friends, laughing about
anything funny that came up. Soon they were outside and they all breathed deeply the
fresh air.''We'll meet you later Tat, Math’s detention'' her friends said and rolled
their eyes, walking off to the other building. Tatiana was on her own, she sighed and
pulled her small black rucksack further over the one shoulder it hung off. She had her
light ginger hair in low plaits and a side fringe was today held back with two silver slides
with small cherries on them. Tatiana wore a red and gray striped strappy shirt and
cropped black combats held up with a studded belt. On her feet were a pair of charcoal
gray slip-ons. The girl made her way along the paved walkway until she came to a shaded
area with benches. This is where the skaters, Emos, scene kids, punks, Goths or anyone
who fit in with them would hang around at lunch. She greeted a few of the boys a year
older than her doing tricks on their boards and sat down on one of the low walls. She put
her bag next to her and pulled out her iPod and put one of the ear pieces in and switched
it on,Mindless Self Indulgence - Shut Me Up started up. She sung the lyrics she
knew quite well quietly, and watched some of the guys doing three sixties as she did.
