Aidan lowered his head slightly, and whispered the words...as if the man would appear if he said it too loudly. He is...my father... Fresh tears appeared on his face...from fear more then anything else. He didn't want to leave this place, but his father would know where to find him..and he wouldn't stop until he did.I have to leave..I have to go again... He said, his voice strained. He didn't want to..not when he had learned to trust a little here. But he couldn't put them in danger. He was on his feet in and instant and sprinting back to the house in the other...trying to solve it by himself.

He packed his backpack hurriedly, and knew if he could possibly take Charlie...it would be better. But he couldn't do that to her. Or..maybe he could. He saw Jake running into the house..or towards it, and he slipped out the back, circling around and reaching the barn again. e took out most of his food and things, and filled a large bucket with Charlie's grain. SHe'd be alright with it. He went to her stall and got his english tack...since it would be lighter. Saddling her quickly, he grabbed his helmet and shoulderedhis backpack. Leading her out, he grimaced as he heard the hoofbeats on the ground, and then mounted her. Aidan asked her for a trot and went down the driveway, hoping Jake wouldn't be after him.

Jake was on Hotspot, a mare from home, he asked her for a lope. She loped easily, catching up with Aidan.

He heard hoofbeats behind him, and decided it was better just to explain to Jake.Don't Jake..just let me go. If he comes here..he'll just hurt all of you. He explained. But then he felt something tugging on the leg of his jeans. He looked over and was met with the sight of his father. As he was dragged down, he kicked and yelled, knowing what was coming.No..don't! Stop...leave me alone! Go! He pleaded. But his 'rudeness' was met with a sickening punch in the face when his father wheeled him around. The man was so enraged he completely ignored Jake, basically not noticing him. Aidan's lip had been cut open and was now bleeding heavily. He lay face down in the dirt road, coughing. How could he be back already? He suddenly felt the impact to his ribs, and he curled up each time his father's boot made its way to his side. You good for nothing....waste of air...stupid boy. His father said between kicks. AIdan was crying now, and he was sorry Jake had to witness this...all of the pain his father caused him. He felt himself being lifted up, then felt the squeezing on his hand once more.I'm sorry..please.. But he kept squeezing until he knew at least one of the fingers were broken. It was how he always punished Aidan. It was easiest. He pushed him back, and Aidan swayed violently. Enough was enough. He looked at his father through half opened eyes, and swung with all of his strength, catching the man in the jaw. He saw the stunned expression, and then watched as if in slow motion, his father leap at him, knocking him down, and started pounding his face, his chest, anything he could hit.

As soon as both bolted, Sam quickly sent Lady to follow them. Panting and staying in the shadows, Lady saw the man attacking her boy and snarled, bursting out of the brush. Her fangs snapped the air and she latched onto his thraot, her fangs ripping. He may have hit her but she didn't know. She just hung onto the foul man's neck, snarling. Her fangs squeezed, gripping tight. Back at the stable, Sam slipped a pistol into her waist line and mounted Samurai, bareback and no bridle, nuding the mare out of the barn and pushing her into a full gallop, heading their way.

Jake jumped from Hotspot, kicking the older man in the head as he fell from the 17.1 hh mare. He smiled when he saw Lady tear out of the shadows, knowing she loved Aidan and would do anything to stop the foul man from hurting him. Jake knelt down, offering a outstreached hand to pull Aidan from the flying dirt and dust, grit and grime. He saw Sam's silloette atop Samurai.

Sam rode in while Lady snarled adn began to shake her head, ignoring any hits from either people. All she could see was teh blood dripping from her fangs and scratches over his body from her claws. Most Wolfhound were used to kill or chase down bears, wolves, elk, and anyother large game so a man was no trouble. Whoaing Samurai a few feet away, Sam pulled out her pistol and shot it in the air, the crack loud enough to spook teh horses back at the barns.AKIE! Sam cried, making Samurai sidestep and paw teh ground. Lady finally broke her control and went into a frenzy, removing her grip from his neck but attacking his face.

Charlie had danced away in fright when Aidan had been yanked from her back, but seeing that he was getting hurt, she had charged back, ready to defend him. But the dog beat her to it. She halted and shook her head, whinnying in worry as Aidan laid off to the side, unable to grip Jake's hand because of his pain. He gasped, trying to bring air back into his lungs, trying to expand his chest. It felt as if it had collapsed. His fingers felt like they were on fire, and his ribs felt much the same from where he was kicked. His face was a bloody mess, but it could all be helped without going to the hospital. Even as he swam in and out of conciousness, one thought was clear. He didn't want to go back there. The man felt the jaws upon his throat, and that dog had saved Aidan's life. If there had been more beatings, the poor boy would be dead where he lay, limp as ever. He was still now, trying to breath. His father let out a frightened cry as he went over backward, trying to pry the jaws off his mouth. When the dog went for his face, he held up his arms to try and defend himself.

Lady's fangs tore through his flesh on his arms, her snarls becoming worse. Leaping off of Samurai, Sam ran over to Aidan, talking soothing words in Indian to the mare, her native known langue. As Lady fought, Sam pulled her switchbade out of her pocket and sliced the bottom half of her shirt, wrapping it around Adian's fingers, small tears dotting her cheeks.

Aidan's father yelled out gruffly.Call her off! I won't touch him! He begged, and then kept his arms up, even though it hurt more then anything he had ever been through. As Aidan felt Sam wrap the cloth around his fingers, he stirred slightly. Looking up in confusion, he recognized Sam through his pain.Sam...c-can you...can you...s-sing that song... He croaked out, knowing he sounded stupid, but he didn't care. He let his head fall back to the earth and he closed his eyes, his breathing shallow.

Sam gathered him up and hugged him, her face buried on the top of his head. Feral Lady continued to tear at him, her claws digging into hsi flesh just as her fangs did. Hatred filled her veins.Lady, akiel, Sam croaked adn Layd stopped, backing up slightly so her paws were on his chest. THe man now faced his feral attacker and she would kill him if he moved.Sure Aidan.. I will try..

As Sam hugged him softly and lifted him up a bit with it, he kept the groan of pain inside of him. But his arms went around her and he knew he wanted to stay with her and Jake. He knew he would never have a set of real parents again...and he would never ask Sam and Jake to adopt him...but living in the same house with her and Jay and Jake and Josh was for now, good enough for him. He finally let the groan escape him, and his hands slid down from her and to his sides again. He looked up at her with sorrowful eyes.I'm sorry Sam...and Jake...

Sam gave him a watery smile, kissing teh top of his head softly. Shhh... you didn't do anything... Look.. you are making Charlie scared, she said softly, her throat tight. While she was crying on teh outside, inside she was filled with rage, wanting to spin around and put a bullet between teh man's eyes. But she would hurt Lady cause she was atop the man. Instead, she began to sing.. Lay down Your sweet and weary head Night is falling You’ve come to journey's end Sleep now And dream of the ones who came before They are calling From across the distant shore
Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see All of your fears will pass away Safe in my arms You're only sleeping
What can you see On the horizon? Why do the white gulls call? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water All souls pass
Hope fades Into the world of night Through shadows falling Out of memory and time Don't say:«We have come now to the end» White shores are calling You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms Just sleeping
What can you see On the horizon? Why do the white gulls call? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home
And all will turn To silver glass A light on the water Grey ships pass Into the West

Jake had rage clenched in his jowls, he felt Sam's rage towards the man that tried to kill Aidan. He felt the Windchester at his side, but he knew he couldn't use it, not while Lady was atop the man. He smiled lightly, crying on the inside, not letting it show. He started cursing, not loud, just whispering the cusses. His blue-grey eyes darting from Sam, to Lady and the man, to Aidan, to Charlie. He gently took the mare's rein's hoping she wouldn't spook, he let Sam talk to Aidan, knowing he trusted her the most.
