The yearling as in her round pen and Sam was on Samurai. The mare seemed slower and fatter. She had been bred by Toughy and it created a great deal of noise. Everyone was excited because this would be Samurai's third foal. Boy or girl? Paintorsolid? Who knew. Sam rode up by Aidan and singaled him to halt.Whatshall we do first? she called, Samurai standing still and looking bored but Sam kept a tight rein on her.

Charlie tossed her head up and down, dancing sideways because of her energy. Aidan sat quietly, and steadied her, not wanting her to do anything out of the ordinary for Charlie. She snorted and arched her neck in agitation. She wanted to run..and she wanted to run hard. She whickered to Samurai, but she remembered that the mare didn't really like others. Snorting to herself in a reprimanding way, she listened to Aidan and stood still for only a moment. Aidan looked up as Sam spoke and smiled, giving her a shrug.I don't really know...it's up to you... He offered and waited for her instructions, having Charlie walk out on the rail.

Sam thought for abit and looked at the fidgety mare, not usual for her. She was normally doscile and quiet. How about barrel wrok? She needs to loose alotta energy before you can even get near trick riding, Sam said and scratched the mare's neck. Samurai sighed. She was getting better with other horses and strange people but still hated cats and high mighty thinking horses. She maybe shorter then some, but none over ranked her or they woudl feel her wrath.

Aidan listened carefully to her words and nodded softly. Charlie was acting oddly today..but that was probab;y becuase she hadn't been exercised in a long while and she was just feeling good. And it was slightly chillier today then it had been all of the other days. But it was going to warm back up with the warm weather coming in the next day. Charlie tossed her head and went forward as he asked her for a jog. It kept her busy, but she was going much to quick for a western pace, and if he slowed her down, she would just break. She was being difficult today, but that was just her being a mare. She finally settled when he asked her for a lope, but she still fidgeted with the bit. He walked her as they reached the barrels and asked her for an easy lope. She wanted to go, but he wouldn't let her. She needed to take them slow at first so she wouldn't hurt herself. They went around each one pretty good for their first time in a long time, and he made sure they hugged them close. He brought her back to the starting line and waited for Sam's words, growing frustrated with the antsy mare.

Sam watched them, her eyes saying nothing. Samurai snorted and pawwed the ground, side stepping and the works. But Sam merely let her as long as she didn't try to run off or buck her off, her right hand holding the reins tight to keep her in check.Aidan, take a gallop around the arena. Charlie needs to lose some engery and thats the best way, she called, her voice pitched at the right time to carrying over the bare space between them. Samurai gave a loud spuel when Sam kicked her, reminding her to behave. With a unhappy snort, she stopped her side stepping and prancing but fidigted, just to let her know she wouldn't listen to just anyone.

He looked at her with a frustrated gaze at Charlie's behavior, and then nodded at her instructions. He let her go to the rail, and then sat forward a little bit, giving her head. He squeezed with his legs a bit, and then whispered into her ear. She shot off like a rocket, showing her speed. Her legs churned quickly, kicking up dirt and the ground below her. He smiled slightly and let her go three times around like that, knowing when she was alright. He sat back, pulling slightly on the reins. She slowed to a walk and put her head right down, compliant now. SHe snorted softly, slightly winded from all of that, but not too bad. She whinnied gently, and then Aidan turned to Sam for her next words.

Sam smiled softly, making Samurai walked in circles.Try the barrels now. Just let Charlie go but don't let her get too clsoe to the barrels. She can go the speed she feels, she said, watching. In barrel racing or anything with gaming, the horse did what it felt was right.

Aidan took a deep breath and nodded, then lined the mare up at the line to begin. He gave her her head and let her go at her own pace, as Sam instructed. It was fast, but Aidan kept it controled and careful as she turned around the barrels. They hugged them closely, and he went with her, staying out of her way so she could turn. He gave her her head through it all, and after they rounded the last barrel, she flew...running faster then she had when they were galloping around the ring. He pulled her up as they finished and let her walk, patting her neck softly. That had to be the best run they ever had.
