He slowed the stallion as well, and trotted in a circle before walking and halting. He gave
Colby a swift pat on the neck and dismounted as well. The stallion had broken out in a
fine sweat around his girth and on his neck. At least Darren knew he had given him some
decent exercise. He rubbed the studs nose, and pulled out a slice of carrot from his
hoodie, and gave it to Colby. He then lead the tired stallion over to Kirsten.''Nice
ride'' he complimented with a smile.

Kirsten smiled at Darren. She let the horse graze and she said, Yeah you too.

''Thanks'' he said and also allowed Colby to eat some grass as well, he leant against
the stallions shoulder slightly. Darren ruffled his messy brown hair, looking up at the sky,
eyes following the few clouds there. Then looked back over to Kirsten ''How long
have you been riding?''

Ummm about 18 years. My Grandpa used to just put me up on a horse and then hop on him self and ride with me. Kirsten laughed at the memory.

Darren laughed, he didn’t have to many fond memories, but he could remember the first
time he started working with horses. An unforgettable experience. He looked at Colby,
still busy munching the green stalks.''You must know some pretty good stuff about
riding then'' he said with a grin, gaze back on Kirsten.

Not as much as Sasha. She said as she glanced toward the ground. I'll never be as good as her. Kirsten sighed.

''Sure you could'' he offered, anything was possible if you put your mind to it.
Well, at least that’s what Darren thought when he thought something was impossible.
Kind of cheesy, but it did the trick. Darren scuffed his feet on the dusty track beneath him
and watched the sun in the distance sinking below a distance tree line.''We should get
back soon, its getting late'' he said.

Yeah. She said head still down. Kirsten grabbed Princess Guy and mounted. Kirsten had her horse walk while Darren mounted then said, Race ya to the gate!

[BECKiEE :)]

''Not again!'' he said with a laugh and climbed back into the saddle. Darren pulled
up Colby’s head and he pinned his ears as he was forced to leave the grass. The young
man asked him for trot and he responded and they moved off slowly, ready to follow
Kirsten as soon as she started moving quicker.

Kirsten and Princess Guy bolted as soon as Darren was even with them. Kirsten laughed the whole way.

Darren grinned and pulled Colby up alongside the mare, and looked over at Kirsten with
the same expression, then looked ahead again. Urging the stallion who had gotten some
more interest in this other race, to keep going at this speed. Darren could hear the
pounding hoof steps, and he listened intently to the calming rhythm.

Kirsten urged the mare a little more and sped ahead of Darren.

He let her speed ahead, feeling the arabian begin to tire and he continued a few lengths
behind her at the same speed, allowing Colby to stretch as he moved.''Good
work..'' he said to the arabian as they neared the gate and pulled him up to a trot and
allowed him to have a long rein.

Kirsten opened the gate and let the boys go through then she followed with the mare. Let's go home. she said.

Darren nodded and asked Colby through the gate at a walk, and started off along the
grass verge on the side of the road, leaving enough space for Kirsten and Princess Guy to
walk alongside him and Colby.
